Lisa Richmond's paintings and drawings capture the essence of the plants and flowers that she uses as her subject. Dramatic and sensual they seem to draw you into their world. |

Lisa works from her Byron Bay studio. Her work has sold to private collectors in the area and collectors in Sydney and Melbourne. She recently exhibited a collection of large watercolour paintings and drawings in Byron Bay entitled "RIPE". Lisa is soon to exhibit in Sydney where she originally studied at Sydney College of the Arts. Her printmaking and drawing background enable her to move from great detail to almost graphic abstaction. Flowers are sensual forms bursting with light and colour. Through the observation of flowers and plants I began to understand more about nature and myself. I am constantly in awe of their uniqueness and depth. "I look at a point of detail bringing it into focus and make it larger than life - so that it can be witnessed and experianced." RIPE Mythical, sensual, collective are three adjectives that describe local artist Lisa Richmond's exhibit of Roses. Another adjective is rapture. For it is not without a sense of exuberance that one takes in the undeniably erotic subject matter, their unfolding petals thrust outward as if from Jungs collective unconscious. "The process is the fundamental experience in my work", says Lisa , eyes sparkling. "My art is a focus of what comes out of being, as far as is possible, in the moment. Life is a constant change....so is my work!" |
